Iron Mountain High School is proud to announce that senior Oskar Kangas, son of Jodi and Jason Kangas, has committed to play Basketball at Division III University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Oskar plans to study Information Systems. Oskar had a number of offers from schools but overall found UW-Oshkosh to be the best fit due to its “Iron Mountain-like family environment.”

Notable accomplishments on the court include being a three-time Player of the Year (West-PAC and MPC Conferences), a two-time U.P. During his high school career, he had a total of 1,974 career points.
Off the court, Oskar also excelled in football and tennis. He was a UP Football All-Star Game selection and was West-PAC All-Conference (football). In addition, he was a Varsity Tennis UP Champion. He excelled academically, achieving Honor Roll every semester at Iron Mountain High School. He also participated in National Honor Society, Varsity Club, and AAU Basketball.
Oskar’s parent’s, Jodi and Jason Kangas, grandmother Dianne Kangas, aunt Diane Bellmore, and uncle Darren Groleau attended the signing celebration, along with Iron Mountain Athletic Director, Brad Perry, and Varsity Basketball coaches, Harvey “Bucky” Johnson, Kyle Johnson, and Robin “Marty” Marttila.
