Iron Mountain High School is proud to announce that senior Alex Jayne, son of Jill Esterly-Jayne and Tom Jayne, has committed to play Football at Division II Northern Michigan University. At NMU, Alex plans to study Sports Management and Education. Although Alex seriously considered attending St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin, he ultimately chose to play for the Wildcats where he is excited to meet new people, learn, and grow.

Alex has been playing football since third grade, starting with Marquette Youth League Football. He participated in the Gwinn Modeltowner Football program in middle school and then for Iron Mountain his freshman, sophomore, junior and senior years. He was named All Conference Middle Linebacker his junior and senior year, as well as being named Mr. UP Football. He has been a part of the UP Dream Team (Running Back), and is a three-time All-State Running Back.

In the classroom, Alex has been a consistent Honor Roll student. At Iron Mountain High School, he has also participated in basketball, track, and golf.  Alex “would just like to thank all my brother Max, my coaches throughout my High School career and teammates for helping me become the player I am now today and also the young man and person I have become as well. I wouldn't be here without them today.”

Alex’s parents, Jill Esterly-Jayne and Tom Jayne, and grandma Rose Jayne attended the signing celebration, along with Iron Mountain Athletic Director, Brad Perry, and Varsity Football coaches, Robin “Marty” Marttila, Kyle Johnson, and Harvey “Bucky” Johnson. Multiple friends were also in attendance.
